the broken contract Prologue In the First Age, the Human race claimed much of the land now known as Mundania, which was previously ruled over in part by the two races said to come from the earth itself; the beastkind Temari and the plantkind Wikkan. In order to secure land for the Battle of the First Age, Human generals signed a Contract of Conservation with a Terami Elder and Sage Wikka, promising to leave a good portion of the natural world untouched once the battle ended. With the amount of cities and independent settlements that popped up after that, the Temari were infuriated, but the contract was never technically breached. Humanity left much land untouched, as per the contract, but gave no thought to where they chose to colonize, including sacred Temari burial grounds and forest sanctuaries. In essence, humanity prioritized its own needs for what it believed to be the greater good. Without the numbers nor the ability to wage war, the matter was left to simmer for three ages. Chapter I After three ages of searching for a reason to war against humanity, the Temari have found one. The Dark Continent, Soil, has come alive and began eating away much of the land left to Temari. Because of Human involvement in the Second Age event known as "Earthen Tomb," which resulted in the disappearance of thousands of Wikkan, Temari are now blaming them for both allowing a breach in the Contract of Conservation and the endangerment of the Wikkan race.

discovered document document I: a letter from a Temari to his Human lover Dear Mellie Greybeck, This may very well be the end of peace between our kin. No longer will we suffer the blows of shameful eyes when you sneak into my tent at night; we will suffer real blows, gashes, at the claws of Elder Mori. No longer is the balance between Temari and Man strained. It is broken. And though I have always given your kind the benefit of the doubt, I fear it is now impossible. Humanity claims to have immense power and connections, the nobles and councilmen parading around their cascading city Guadelle like creators of the universe. If they were so endowed, why is the Dark Continent devouring more of our land with every passing day? What is being done to stave off this madness? At Earthen Tomb, the humans unleashed something. So foolish and greedy, bound by a contract so that they cannot take our land but they gladly tried to take the Dark Continent. No man should lay claim to that tainted land. The contract is as pointless as these letters between us. I fear that human folly is too much of a gap for love to transcend. But perhaps you are already tainted, my love, by the family you so desperately cling to. Humanity must be stopped, and if doing my duty means the end of this silly night-time charade, so be it. You would likely mock me with your indecision and your excuses, as usual. Enjoy your freedom, human, for this era of tyranny is coming to an end. Elder Mori tells me of a magnificent future, in which the Old Lands are restored and Temari reign unhindered once more. I see it in my dreams and I pray for it in my morning rituals. I hope you live long enough to see the glory of my people. PS. How long can you hide Benji? His Temari blood will show in the coming years and your loving family will ask questions.
